Q: Anyone else hearing "gangnam style" everywhere all of the sudden?!
Subway in the morning: gangnam style
Fitness center below my office: gangnam style
Subway in the evening: gangnam style
Market by my apartment at night: gangnam style...on repeat.
Is it just me or did this just happen all of the sudden over the past week or so? Where has China been for the last 4 months?
11 years 30 weeks ago in Arts & Entertainment - China
yeh... the same with me, that song is a big hit, so no wonder u will hear it every where in the world ...
haha.......even this song got a question here.........i hear it everywhere....and now i saw a question about it here.......i personally like the part when he meets the girl on the metro
same here.. hear it everywhere! just like previously with the Korean group Wonder Girls, their song "I want nobody nobody but you"..
morocotopo:
Haha I didnt know they were Korean. I really like watching chinese people go crazy with that song and feeling proud they can sing in English "Nobody nobody blablabla"
watch the Korean dance team, Waveya, dance to gangnam style. I'm waiting for streets full of people to do it.
yup, one of the local businesses outside of my home have a daily routine of going out and dancing at about dinner time. Gangnam Style has been on their playlist for about two weeks now.
it goes to show how disconnected from the rest of the world China really is, limited access to things on the internet, limited access to international tv and if there was, then also limited ability to understand what these international tv channels are on about
It's the way China works. Get used to it, as you will be hearing Gangnam Style well into 2013, possibly 2014.
morocotopo:
Right, that's the way it works. Football they have one idol, basketball one idol, international presidents one idol, etc, etc haha
I had never heard of this song until my sister showed me a youtube video a couple months back. It was a live performance on one of those NYC morning talk shows. She thought it was hilarious with all those asian people in Times Square going absolutely nuts over this guy. The next day I hear it on the radio in my car (in the US). And now it's like you say; I hear this song about damn near every day in China (gym music, public dancing music, or just some random guy going along singing "oppo jiang nan sty")
At my high school they are teaching the students the Gangnam Style dance for P.E. class.

9:30 am~ second period ends
9:32 am~ five minutes of orderly marching to patriotic music
9:37 am~ the flag is raised in reverent silence
9:38 am~ a short address from the headmaster
9:40 am~ HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! SEXY LADIES!
9:45 am~ five minutes of orderly marching to partiotic music followed by a short break
10:00 am~ third period begins.
Isn't this from Korea? Does China really another Korean import?
Heeeeeeeeyyy, sexy lady!
Oppan Gangnam Style!
haha sorry.
No, not sorry.
As usual, China is behind the times, and like Mr. Tibbles said, you'll probably hear it for years to come. Gangnam Style will soon be the most viewed video on Youtube. I wish it had been popular while I was in China, I like it more than Nobody by the Wonder Girls.
Erm....I think its you or possibly the city you're in that's behind the times. Gangnam style has been huge in China for ages now. Its actually getting a bit old now
I think it's just now that the advertisement section of China is getting ahold of this gangnam style craze and using it for everything. Have been hearing the song for quite a while already in China.
It's getting lame fast. The Guangzhou police even did a parody (shown on the news. ugh.) where they tried to teach young people how to stay out of trouble.
Yes, it's the new "hit" in china..... remember a couple of years ago Maiiiiii Ahiiiiiiii, Mai ahoooo....i think the name of that band was O-Zone :D
PSY just performed the finale at the American Music Awards. He's big everywhere.
I don't get the attraction though.
I remember in 2008, we could still hear that freaking "Hey oh" song by Tragédie, a horrible hip hop song that sounds awkward as all hell, in bars in Beijing.
That song was a hit in France in 2003.
Sometimes I just wish they weren't just late in the mainstream trends, but instead completely unaware of them...
I'm so sorry to not be in China ATM, then.
I have the most wonderful visions of platoons of 17-year-old shop assistants being forced to do the Gangnam dance, in formation on the footpaths, before they start work.
Yeah I even hear it when I sleep and I hear it all the time when I'm going to the bathroom sitting on the stall. One time I heard it down the street and a dog was dancing to the beat. We started walking he looked back we walked he looked back again then he gave me this unusual grin like he just did Oppa Gangnam style! That was insane! The last place I heard it was in the dressing room at the mall...wasn't sure if it was someone's radio or the store was playing it because it sounded like it was coming from different places. The barber shop people go outside and dance to that music!

Aruemdawo, sarangseureowo
Geurae neo Hey! geurae baro neo hey!
Sorry, I'm a troll.
Lighten up, guys!
It's usual, once China finds something it likes it repeats and repeats and repeats. I'm still into the song so it doesn't bother me yet! Given time though I'm sure I will begin to change my taste!
I'm surprised "China Style" hasn't got more airtime to be honest!
I keep thinking this question reads as "Anyone else tired of hearing Gangnam Style everywhere?"
Scandinavian:
that is crazy talk, who can ever get tired of Gangnam Style ?
