Or is it my school's server?
This afternoon, I was trying to access Google via the company server in the UK. No joy. I was trying to find an answer to a boolean logic potential problem on a Mitsubishi PLC. All I got from local Bing was ideas for dating websites, any results with potentail answers.. blocked..
Seriously, this stupid firewall is costing China billions of bucks in lost production.

Why Bing? Yahoo-gle is full of Mitsubishi PLC.
Yahoo isn't equal to GOOG, but it's the only one I use.

well that's what is so asinine about the whole thing. They can't have it completely blocked or it will affect themselves as well as affect businesses they take seriously.
I figure that the goal of the people who run it is to keep the free ones blocked. As long as there is some kind of financial cost the people they see as being vulnerable to outside information aren't going to pay for it. The people who shell out $70 a year and have foreign contacts etc are probably going to be people who are doing OK and not going to plan a riot.
I would think just having a visa/mastercard you can buy one with is proof enough that you can be trusted with facebook/youtube access.
They just want to make sure that the masses out on the provinces who feel left out don't get the chance to socialize in a way they can't monitor and get news they can't scrub.
I think somebody posted a while back on how the rich provinces get a Hong Kong or Taiwan channel or two in the basic cable packages but the poor ones dont. I like the idea you can trust a Guangdonger to watch Taiwanese news but not a Anhuinese

Sometimes they unblock google, they still need to receive updates themselves.
Only for a short time though, happens every couple of months, i wake up and all my apps have updated through the play store.
Nope. I can't access it here anyway.
It might be your school server or it might be that they unblocked it temporarily.
