I don't know about you all, but I've found that I typically don't buy clothing, footwear, electronics, etc. here in China, even though it's available everywhere. Instead, I wait until I'm back home to buy it. It struck me as odd but I can't help it - I just feel safer buying stuff back home.
Anyone else do this?
I do the same. I only buy these things back home.
If it is cheaper here then it likley a fake, and if it is good quality you will pay more than at home.
Clothes I buy at home, electronics in Hong Kong.
I also think that products made for the western market are made to a higher standard of quality to meet regulations.
I agree with thedude. It's funny, because so many products are made here, yet you can't BUY them here. EVERYTHING I have purchased here, even "high end real stuff" falls apart quickly and doesn't last.
Stuff like socks and things for sure. You simply can't get thick, quality socks here. All the stores, even walmart and carrefour seem to sell are those thin little cruddy ones. Undershirts too.
Yeah, that's the main reason that stops me from buying any kind of clothing here. I've bought one skirt. It was really cheap so I don't expect it to last very long. I also bought two pairs of shoes, also cheap. If I buy anything else, maybe it will be some hair accessories. Otherwise, I save my money and basically only buy food or other necessities. Anything else will be stuff to take home for friends and family.
