I'm trying to link my Chinese bank card to the WeChat wallet function. I get to the stage where it asks for your passport number, name and telephone number. Everything matches, but then I get an error message saying that my telephone number doesn't match the one linked to my bank account. I've double checked that my number is in fact correct.
Has anyone else had this issue? Might this be because I have the English version of wechat installed and not the Chinese one?
I have noticed before that the Chinese versions of some software have far more features and work a bit better than their skimmed-down half baked "international" versions.
PS: I have internet and mobile banking enabled on the bank account.
Thank you in advance for advice.

<p>There are actually 2 (maybe more) numbers connected to your bank account. Online and regular contact number, check them both. </p>
<p>As far as I know there is no Chinese version of WeChat, it is one for all languages, the app language follows the phone language. </p>
<p>Mine worked, I just linked mine recently. No problem. Maybe something with the banks record doesn't match the format, and maybe the name too.</p>
<p>It happened to me too. Try with your name instead of your number. In my case I had to write my name in capital letters and my last name had to precede my first. That's how the bank registered my name when I opened the bank account.</p>
Sometimes when you fill out a form with a mobile device it puts a space after the last number entered... So make sure the cusor is right next to the last letter before you hit enter....
This happens often when trying to book plane tickets
I am having problems too, it keeps telling me the name or card number is incorrect, but I use the camera function to capture the card, I guess the Bank of China girl entered my name incorrectly, although my online banking shows my correct name. I have tried forwards, backwards, capitals, lower case.. I guess it will have to be a trip to the bank to see if they can help.

You need to input your name exactly the same way your bank set op your account.
Online banking for foreigners can be quite annoying. If you ever get multiple bank accounts, let the banking staff know exactly how you want them to I put your name. Make sure all your accounts have the same input of your name.
Also, when signing up for we chat pay, the phone you use for your wechat needs to be the same phone number that is connect with your bank account.
We chat pay is really convenient for didi dache and buying movie tickets. You can also pay your phone bills too.
