A foreigner is not allowed to trade (buy or sell) A shares issued on the China's stock markets.
A foreigner can however purchase B shares in the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, trade through the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) system, or purchase China Exchange-Traded Funds {ETFs) on US stock exchanges.
