Q: Are forums old fashioned?

Today, I had a look at some UK forums I follow. They are all very quiet.

And no, I don't post on them. So it's not my fault

Is the time of the forum past? Has instant messaging replaced it?

just seems we seldom get good questions ... I have no answers, because kind of live like a hermit here, but I sure do appreciate all the info from all over China ...seems not few understand the comfort and the relaxation that can be had in China ( Guangdong China),

anybody north of 30 degrees latitude.... go home, it is not worth the hassle.

No Forums are not old fashioned, yet...... e-mail is.

again, I like this "forum" thing

im with you on the Ecc keep going thing but unless admin step up their game and find a new Avenue to explore it will go the way of the Dodo. maybe a competition to get new views and new blood evolved. but then again they reneged on the points prizes so i doubt anything of substance will happen. start searching out Ecc address so we know where to send the flowers and condolence cards too ,im afraid

Instant messaging is private, I dont think can replace a public forum which generates divergent views.

I too saw a great forum 'die' only because a couple of bad apples spoilt the basket.

Disinfect / Fumigate and remove the trouble creators.. then forum will surely grow, imho.

Yeah. I agree. A few bad apples with issues can destroy it. But seasoned forum posters can sense trolls. Differences of opinion are what keep forums alive. We need to keep fighting online to keep the power of debate alive. This might be the only thing libtards and neocons agree on :-)
