I will be moving to the south of Dongguan and more specifically to Dalingshan soon. Having never really been there for more than a day at a time, I am now wondering if there are any expats in or near Dalingshan town. Any part of southern Dongguan that is reasonably nearby would also be good to know about.
A second questions would be if anyone knows how to get from Dalingshan to Dongguan city (centre?) and whether or not there are any expat events happening there? Looking forward to my move away from Guangzhou but still unsure about the area that I am moving to.
yikes! I know dalingshan, its about a 20 minute drive from my place. Any area outside of the city center is a hub for manufacturing and hookers. So weekends will be fun if thats your thing. Not a great place, its kind of far and transportation is under developed so your best to have a car or be a homebody. Me thinks your gonna regret leaving Guangzhou pretty quick!

Manufacturing and hookers is not quite my thing and unfortunately I don't drive. I am leaving Guangzhou for a better job but would like to see something to do that is not too far from my new university. Do you know if there is any public transportation from Dalingshan to Dongguan (city centre) or any of the other cities around?

Well i cant fault you for leaving for a better opportunity. This is why i live in a farmer town nearby. There will definatly be public transportation into donguan. But its limited to farmer buses and black taxis. But i dont know your exact location perhaps there are pockets of civilization there. As for things to do near by ... Theres a mountain called... You guessed it! Dalingshan!!! But there isnt alot man. I hope it works out for you.
You sound a bit confused as to where you are moving. On your topic about unwanted clothes you said you were leaving GZ and China.

Sorry about the confusion. I wrote both posts relatively quickly but the plan is to work in Dongguan while I sort out the details of my plan for leaving China. Slightly confused though.
