Q: Are you a tough bargainer?

When I arrived here I was much more polite, and gentle and definitely more of a pushover, but now I find myself becoming increasingly aggressive, I wonder how I'll be when I return back home...

I am the worst bargainer in history. Which is wierd as I am a hella good negotiator in the work place. All big purchases Ill go to stores where prices are non- negotiable  and smaller things I always let them win. I feel really uncomfortable fighting over a few dollars even if I know im being robbed.  Generally I dont buy much, so if I ask the price and its way off, I know im in for a battle and I walk away even if they call after me with lower prices.  If the price they quote is close, ill give exactly one counter offer. If they refuse it, ill buy anyways depending on how bad I want it.

This absolutely kills my wife. She hates that Chinese would steal from foreigners and she hates that I would allow it. She actually yelled at my mom for being a dumb shit ( her exact words)  for buying something stupid in a walking street hahaha. Luckily shes close with my mom so she can get away with it.

humbug:

Haha I get laughed at a lot by my Chinese friends for buying overpriced stuff too

I am pretty bad at it. But if I ask the carrot vendor, how much is this, and I get a "foreigner friendly price" I am quick to walk away. As long as I am buying something that I know is easily available, I don't want to spend time on those who try to rip me off. It's more tricky if it is a case of "only store in the world that has this gadget that I must own" for those cases, send the wife or if it is an expensive item, my MIL has a friend who can get anything down to nothing.... China should really send her to negotiate the islands with Japan.
