Been trying to make my own guacamole, but no luck finding avocados. Anyone know where to buy some decent guacamole sauce?
Ja, Ja, if you can wait 6 more years, I have 7 avocado trees (original seeds from Florida, USA, growing on my backyard, should bear fruit in 2017 or 18.
I have not found any avodados here, but I have seen what looks like avocados (but almost black skin) imported from Vietnam, but they are small.ike a smqll pear. Have no idea of taste, not that adventutrous yet.
I make guacamole also and have been able to find avocados here in Shanghai for about 18rmb each at an organic veggie/fruit shop. I've heard at some places they're twice that. See if you can find an organic shop and check there .
I've seen them at western markets like Jenny Loo's and April Gourmet, but they're quite expensive.
Sanyuanli market sells avacodoes. The last time I went to Jenny Lou's they cost 18 kuai for one. Not sure how much they are in Sanyuanli but I imagine it's about the same.
Just go and check in an imported food store, there are lots of things that are hard to find in other places, they sell even cheese!! But yeah, don't expect them to be cheap or as big as you are used to, but they might work for a Guacamole mmmm! Good luck!!
Just bought avocadoes from my local fruit seller. One cost 8 rmb which I thought was a bargain. However, when i tried one I realized it was over-ripe and complely brown within. No green in site. No wonder it was that cheap!
You can find Avocados at jenny lou's. I've also seen avocados that sold for around 6 to 7 kuai at other bigger supermarkets. Check the japanese supermarkets and the markets that are located within the mall usually on the bottom floor.
They had a big sale for avocados several weeks ago and the price should be about the same around this time also.
