Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: Best and cheapest airlines from the UK
Hey all, so I have been offered a job and will hopefully be flying out towards the end of next month. Wow that is a really short space of time...
I have been browsing all the searches for cheap flights for a while now, but prices vary considerably with the same airlines but through different sites even though flight times and the date are exactly the same.
Anyone from the UK able to point me in the direction of a decent flight booking place? Specifically from Manchester or Liverpool. If not those areas, at least a service which will depart from the UK.
Cheers.

General airticket search tips
If you depart from Manchester or Liverpool you can of course search tickets from those two cities, but you should also look at tickets from one of London's airports. The ticket search engines will give you prices for plane tickets, and taking the train to London as the start of the journey could mean a saving
Tickets vary a lot depending on what weekday you fly. Typically weekends will be more, but it differs from route to route and also direction, be flexible with dates.
I use www.momondo.com but sometimes visiting the airlines web sites can find good deals.
As with departure airport, be flexible with arrival airport. From another thread I know you want to arrive in Hong Kong, I am pretty sure British Airways have direct flights. But maybe also search flights to Shenzhen (which is not a very good airport for international flights, but there would be domestic flights that would take you there via Beijing or Shanghai) Maybe widen the search to Guangzhou as well. (be aware if you fly to Shenzhen and still go to Hong Kong you will need at least a dual entry visa)
Emirates with change over in Dubai, cost about 450 pounds return,Manchester
From my experience, flyting with Air France is one of the cheapest ways to flight from UK to Hong Kong or Beijing. KLM, Emirates and Qatar airways also have cheap flights, it all depends on how flexible you are with the dates
A quick search on Kayak shows Emirates being the cheapest option from Manchester to Hong Kong at about 750 usd one-way. Couldn't find anything available going from Liverpool to Hong Kong. Leaving from London would save you about 100 usd, but then you'd be on a crappy Chinese airline (China Eastern). I used March 25th as a departure date with a +/- 3 day flex option.
IMHO, 100 usd is worth it to both leave from the airport of your choice AND to be on a much nicer airline.
500 pounds can get you a flight from London to Kuala lumpur then to Shanghai with Air Malaysia, but I always ask them to defer the onward journey a day and enjoy a cheap night in KL.
