What are the best in season fruits in winter in China? I saw that pomegranates made an appearance recently but then I was told that they're already out of season.
Pomelo!!! And once you've fought your way through the rind to the fruit you really deserve it.
I'm so sad that pomegranates are almost our of season. I just learned an amazing new trick on how to deseed them in 30 second. And it actually works! Now I'll have to wait until next and by then I will have forgotten the trick.
Scandinavian:
Could you share the pomegranates trick, it takes hours to eat one of those suckers
Scandinavian:
by the way, pomelo, after having been through a lot of them, last winter I think I averaged one per day, the trick to fast removal of the skin is to ignore the fact that it's bloody tough and just treat it like an orange. if you still find it difficult then you're probably not peeling oranges the right way either.
smoglife:
OK the trick is really easy, but I just spent 5 min trying to describe and that is really hard. So will add the link when I get home and have access to youtube.
icnif77:
You can cut whole pomelo in half, and eat it with the spoon. I prefer 'skin peel treatment' of pomelo.
i know it isn't a winter fruit, but i just bought some avocados... i was real excited to find them here. i'm going to make a BLT with avocados...

Don't know if they're really in season or not, but just about every fruit vendor around here has tons and tons of those small oranges...tangerines? The Chinese is 桔子 and they're delicious

Ya, I've been buying those by the sack and eating them like lychees.. 10 at a time.
The best winter fruit in China? A man that I hooked up with about one week ago...the guy with the strawberry undies...with the logo...that was a real fruit, undoubtedly so.
