As of July 1st, you should be covered by the same national plan that all Chinese citizens get. Check with your employer if they are a Chinese company - they are required to pay into the social welfare system.
I would recommend getting coverage from your home country however, because if you want to see a doctor trained in western medicine, it's usually much more expensive here and NOT always covered by the social insurance.
Will it apply to one who is not working but staying here under L visa (6mth/12mth)? Tks
