No, not in China or elsewhere.

* Authenticated Academic Credentials: You will need authenticated copies of your academic degrees and any relevant teaching certificates, such as a TEFL certificate. Authentication typically involves verification from an issuing authority in your home country and possibly further verification from the Chinese consulate or embassy.

I'm not 100% sure but I think only a masters degree or higher can substitute for the TEFL/TESOL. I believe it's considered to be part of your academic credentials.

I have done it. I have taught in china before with a Z visa and no TEFL/TESOL. My understanding is this was approved because of my masters AND previous work experience. Rules may have changed since 2019 though.

You both better travel by sea from Fuzhou to Taipei ...  broken heart 'cause Q here was about work experience substitution, not Masters ... that much.

in the past you might have been able to if you knew the right people and were willing to teach in the rurals. Getting the TESOL would be a sinch. Why not spend the two weeks to get it?
