Dear teachers/friends,
I have a question to some of you, who might have faced the similar problem.
In connection with some personal issues I would like to prolong my stay in China for 1 more month.
At the moment I have a Z-visa and I would like to apply for 1 month tourist visa (at the expiration of the Z-visa).
I have been to PSB office, they told me, that I, as an indidual, CAN NOT apply for a tourist visa and recommended to turn to my current employer for help (this is Hubei province). According to the PSB office ONLY a LEGAL ENTITY (company) can apply for a tourist visa for foreigners.
Just today I have spoken with my employer - the employer has refused to assist me with this matter.
I have a question in this regard: can this be true, that a foreigner (with assistance of a Chinese individual) can not apply for 1 month tourist visa in China?
I would be very thankful for any help or advice!
Regards,
Sergiy

You can aply but i think you need to do it outside China, Hong kong?
You should go to a reputable travel agency and ask them about it. Chinese departments are really slow so you should do it immediately to make sure it's done on time. Or, if you're close enough, Hong Kong or Macau.
Many persons living in China have the idea that PSB offices can issue visas to enter China. PSB can issue residence permits, which takes the place of the visa that allowed you to enter China and be able to see them. By Chinese Law on Immigration, only Embassies abroad can issue visas, and by special dispensation some PSB offices located at entry ports at international airports. A Residenced Permit acts as a visa, but it is not a visa. Hard to understand?.
Now, BEFORE your Z visa expires (one or two days), you must go to Hong Kong, and the Chinese Embassy there in person. Depending on your nationality, you may apply for a "L" type tourist visa, minimum issue is 6 months validity, your choice of one entry, two entries, and HONG ONLY ISSUES 30 DAYS VISAS for some oscure reason. They may even ask you to return to your country of origen and petition visa there, depends on clerk handling you and his mood that day. Also, at airport in Hong Kong, as you exit the A or B gates in Arrivals Area, there are booths that will get you a 30 days L visa for a fee, if before 10 am the same day, after 10 am ready next day.
Hope this helps you.
