Hi, Can my employer cancel my residence permit without me knowing, causing problems with entering and exiting China?

No. They can cancel your Expert's Certificate, but cannot cancel your Resident's Permit.

talkword speaks the truth, however, once they cancel your FEC they WILL notify the Entry/Exit people who WILL cancel your RP and replace it with a 30 day L visa...whether they put it in your passport or not. It is done administratively.

How about some details about your midnight runner

Good luck arguing with border control and getting another FEC

portpower:

Cheers for your info. Haha no it wasn't a midnight runner. During the summer vacation i came to Thailand. From here i notified the school i wanted to leave. I was even prepared to go back there for a month( giving them the 30 days ) but they have stopped replying to me. ...Can they convert the RP to an L Visa while im in Thailand and it just slowly epires? I dont want to go back to China to find out ...oh sorry your L visa has expierd or sth like that

It's hard to predict but the likely scenario is that they notify FEC guys that you didn't return after summer. They will cancel your FEC and inform entry/exit. What they do is a mystery. It will depend upon the local policy. It is doubtful they do nothing and let your RP slowly run out. The L visa option is likely. Then they can set and forget.

Yeah no doubt. Sounds likely the " I didn't return "  scenario is an option for them.  I guess they wont do nothing.

I have a similar problem...I'm not midnight running, my boss is terminating the contract.
She refuses to give a letter of release. Am I screwed in getting a new visa of any kind?

Can he have his visa changed to a tour visa at the same office they issued his work visa?

icnif77:

Not tour visa, but 30-days L or '30-days RP extension', what depend how did you quit, get fired.

If employer has reasons for your dismissal, they'll make you exit China in 7-days, and if Resignation was done with RNotice as per Contract, 30-days visa is mandatory at RP cancellation.

A:Your potential employer is right! Purpose of the Medical exam before granting Z visa is to make sure, you won't be entering China in any abnormal and harmful to others condition.Few days after your arrival to China, you'll be required to complete another ME ... If ME in China will be OK, you'll get a Residence permit stamp into your book some 10-days afterwards. Imagine, you're an employer, who can sponsor my entry and work in China, but after my arrival to China would be found I carry some sickness, which would prevent Chinese .gov to issue a Residence permit. Rule is: Z visa should be converted into Residence permit in 30-days after entry to China.    So, my advice is:"Complete ME in your home country and forward medical results to your employer".Z visa grant will follow shortly afterwards. Employer is not wrong at their demand for the pre-arrival ME from your home country hospital.   -- icnif77
