Legally? Depend who owns any design rights, copyrights or patents.
i know of companies who source their own designed product from more than one factory. So each factory makes their own mould for the same product. The problems can then be making sure the parts from the two mounds are consistent on the key dimensions / parameters.
If it’s that you’re copying someone eless product then it’s risky if the original manufacturer finds out & takes you to court.

I'm not familiar with mould opening right. I am thinking of invest some money on alibaba to get customers for some container models and car models. I have many pictures from my current company, I plan on listing those pictures online. I want to make sure I can find the same products from other factories,
You know like container models, like 20 feet 1:50 scale(The model which is 50 times smaller than the real size). All 20 feet cintainers just has the same certain shape, that's how containers look. If a factories are not allowed to open the same mould, there won't be many container model manufacturers in China right? So it seems not making any sense. So I I want to duscover more.
Viki87:
But all same size container look the same, models are just miniature of the original size of the container. I wonder how to decide the copyright stuff?
Every customer just decides their own color and logo while ordering the same size container models.
Hotwater:
What do you mean by “container”? You plan to sell models of shipping containers?
