I signed a contract in america came to china with the legal z visa. I have not signed the contract in china. Does this matter because their interpretation of something in the contract lets me know the following year will be long. To avoid problems i would like to cut contact now if I can do so. My contract says if I leave for any reason whether I give the 30 days or not they do not have to give me a letter. Was hoping if I have not signed it in china I can avoid the headache.

If you leave it's your employer's duty to cancel your working visa, working permit and residence permit, be sure they won't miss it if you only came recently.
Again with this damn nonsense.
Just in case anyone has a legit question like this in the future. You have not processed the FEC or Resident permit, then inform them in writing (email) and leave the country. You will need to re-apply for another job from 'america'.
From what I was told the Z visa can not be be transferred to a different employer. Which is why it is best to tough it out for a couple of months and quit following the rules of the contract. Better yet, if you know they will break the contract, sign on and when they do, be ready to go to FEC with proof and you will not have to pay the penalty.
