Heard this thrown around the dinner table yesterday with friends. Anyone ever heard of this and could give the Chinese?
Something to do with a Chinese expression stating that a daughter is her father's lover in his past life.
yes its famous in china... it just means father loves daughter a lot... and that she is sooo good... (like last life might have said.. i want to be with you next life)
so. my grandfather on my mothers side has 6 girls. i guess he use to be a top level chinese burocrat to afford so many "wives"
hmmm, never heard of it, but there must be some seriously weird psychological shit going on with that one
That is absolutely true.My father love my sister much better than me.So she can leave stupid city and live in Hong Kang enjoying happy days and I have to stay in this little city in mainland.
Yes, I have heard this a lot from all my previous girlfriends. They either do not want a daughter or are happy that they will be my daughter in another life....
GuilinRaf:
I dont think we should be judgmental of other peoples beliefs just because we may not share them....
GuilinRaf:
I an not sure I agree with your reasoning, so I guess I will agree to the fact that we disagree.
I think the other side of that saying is that a son is the mothers husband from a previous life.
weird ? maybe. this is a another example show how different cultural between east and west.
someone naturally connect this sentence with pedophilia or Electra Complex phenomenon. but in china this phrase only mean how much father lover his daughter and will provide everything as could as possible for his little angel baby.
a few days before, i read a chinese famous writer's blog, he said his 6 years old daughter is a king( or queen ?) of mischief. this little girl almost drove him "crazy", but when his daughter told him she love her father and want marry to him later. he feel so sweet and happy, because he know his daughter know how much her father love her and she love her father too, but after this girl went to elementary school and got new "boy friend" she told her father she can't marry to him, because when she grown up, he will too old. and the groom should be a young man. funny , sweet and warm, i am sure no one would connect this with creepy or weird things.
I hate Chinese culture and all of this shit things ! Go fuck yourself with this stupid idiot culture and with your arrogant, stupid, idiot and bitches doughter !!!
there are alot of different saying , thought, old says, stories much of the creepy thinks which can make your hairs stand with fear or give you a jaws drop of surprise or even give you a shock as well........ so do not much bother what the chinese say on the table or what they express...... sometimes they do not have moral, ethics or clear basis foor what they are saying.........
Yeh, i've not heard that saying but given that men are estimated to think about sex every thirty seconds, talking with your dad is already creepy enough without having to wonder whether you used to go out with him.
I love my daughter to the limit of human possiblities, but if anyone was to suggest she had been my lover (even if in a 'former life' (a concept I don't believe in)) he / she better have a big smile on their face or we're going to SERIOUSLY fall out!
That has noting to do with sex.
You occidental think it weird, i think because in English "lover" means sexual relationship. but in Chinese language, especially old Chinese, "lover" means person with whom you have deep affection.
In modern Chinese, the word "lover" is assimilated by English, but in some case like this saying, people would thought the "clean meaning" of that word. No one will link it with sex.
By the way, a lover is someone to love, and in English with broad sense, you love someone when his or her happiness is very important to you so that you behave in a kind and caring way towards him or her.
So, please be wise and adapt to culture!
