12 years 36 weeks ago in Relationships - China
Myth. Many Chinese women I know cheat. Western women consider it REALLY bad.
It's a myth. People will be people wherever you go. You can't say that you favor one over the other especially when you do not know everyone. Some people might be faithful and others they won't, but you can't really say Chinese women are more faithful or Western women are more faithful.
My opinion is totally different from the one posted above. It is a historical fact that Chinese woman for centuries have beenj exposed to concubines, second wives, etc, without them fowolling those steps or trying to get even. To ignore this fact shows a total lack of knowledge to properly answer the question with a meaningful response.
Another well known fact is that Western women are more liberalized than their Chinese counterparts, and that in their efforts to be "equal', or in many instances "superior" to men in general, they have become more promiscuous that acceptable for my taste.
Based on these well known two facts, I would say that yes, Chinese women are by far more faithfull than their Western counterparts.
I always thought that the stereotype was the opposite, with unhappy Chinese people of both genders in soul-crushing arranged marriages sleeping around all the time, semi-descretely.
Considering that Chinese women no longer have fear of death upon them, I'd say they're just as likely to be promiscuous, they're just not as open about it. How would anybody know how much they sleep around. They don't talk about it, there are no statistics. To me, this says that there's a lot of crap going on behind your back that you don't know about. It says that if she did cheat, maybe you'd never know about it.
Come on, this is a question that can only get opinionated answers, not factual ones.
Actually, a great amount of research has been done in regards to the fidelity of both men and women from different cultures. It has been documented from many case studies that the number one reason most women cheat outside of marriage isn't about sex (as opposed to men). It's about a lack of relationship. In other words, a need for re-establishing an emotional connection. This is particularly true for women over the age of 30.
When women fail to receive this from their spouse over a long peiod of time, they start to look for it else where. At first, many do not go out and physically cheat (because of a number of reasons); instead, they become emotionally bonded to another male, which can, in time, lead to physical intimancy as the feelings between the two grow and replace what she formerly had with her husband.
In essence, there are two kinds of infidelity: mental and physical. Both types are extremely damaging. Affairs initiated by women usually last 3 times longer than those initiated by men.
So, this being the case, we can now move into conjecture with a few questions. How do Chinese men treat their women as opposed to western men? How does the changing role of Chinese women in society affect their relationships with men, in general? Are Chinese women more or less "traditional" than their western counterparts? How does increasing equalization of men and women in China figure into the concept of infidelity as "if it's okay for him, it's okay for me?" Does self-perception preceed action? Simplisitc as it may seem, there is still a correlation, which of couse, does not tell the entire story.
Want to keep your spouse? Give them your best, both physically and mentally, everyday. There are no guarrentees in life, but this will help to tip the odds to your advantage, whether they be Chinese or western!
