Q: Could anybody tell me which source is true on the matter of traveling to Shanghai?

I've been told from a person that the price to SHanghai was really cheap. The girl I talked to said she got her ticket during the Spring Festival time and it was cheap. She told me it would be a lot cheaper after the Spring Festival. Later, I read that going to Shanghai and some other place; can't remember the other place they mentioned in the article, but they said it was expensive. Which source should I believe? Does anybody have any experience on traveling to Shanghai from Beijing?

In general, holiday travel is more expensive, since all spaces are sold for every departure, no need for discounts.  So, I would guess that after the holidays, when things go back to normal, you will see discounts again.

But be aware, that is only for airplanes, trains and buses are seldom discounted, only official price,.

sorry to disagree with you. sometimes, during the spring festival flights are cheapest in and out of the major cities.

As always the price for anything is always very subjective. What might be cheap for one person, is expensive for another. Yes, all travel prices in China go up around any holiday time and later come down again. Often, it also depends from where you will come, what your starting point/city is. I have traveled from Shanghai to Beijing - round trip -  but always avoid major holidays. Also... you might compare prices: plane versus bullet train. These trains are awesome and you get to see some of the country at the same time.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
