Q: Did you notice the supermarket copy-cats of China?

Take a look at 7-11 inside and out.  Now walk into a CVS.   Then the next time you are at a big Chinese supermarket (not Carrefore or Walmart) try to find "Bacardi Breezers" in the alcohol section.  They are gone - but replaced with a bottle that looks identical but carries the name "Rio".   The taste and alcohol content is night and day. Now I wonder how much of the branding in supermarkets and liquor stores are genuine and why I get such bad headaches from some of the Johnny Walker Black, Red, and Blue label I buy in China.

Since all these foreign goods are taxed, their pricing is higher. So a smart Chinese guy only needs to monitor what the public buys in a supermarket, copy it locally and force the real McCoy out of the market with a price that is typically 30% less until the product is gone and then it becomes the same price.
