Q: Do I have to cancel my residence permit after canceling my work permit?
Last week I accidentally found out that my HR canceled my work permit 4 months ago (she was trying to transfer me to our branch) and all this time she wasnt able to transfer me she claims everytime she submitted the documents (she said she submitted 5 times) something was always wrong.... now its her 6th time, and shes confident that this time everything will be fine. But the thing is, she didnt even cancel my residence permit, she said its OK, we can just go to the 出入境 and get the new one... But I remember I saw somewhere that I need to cancel my residence permit within 10 days after my work pemit was canceled isnt it? what do you guys think? Is she right? if shes not, any advice?

Not you, but your RP sponsor, i.e. your employer/school ...
How can you/will you know your WP was cancelled?
You can't know 'cause your employer must do that, i.e. cancel WP for this or that reason, same as your RP ...

In shanghai you need to cancel your WP in 10 days, in other cities it's different you don't need to cancel .
