Do you think Chinese pay too much attention to money and rank?What do you think is the most important in your life,money,rank,love,or something else?
They definitely don't pay too much attention on money, but maybe rank. It could be a combination for some but the majority don't really pay to much attention on money. As long as you have a happy life that's all that matters. Somebody can be a millionaire lonely and sad while another person can be happy without being a millionaire.

Mattaya, I couldn't disagree with you more. I'm living the fact that money is a lot more important than you suggest. In response to you my question would be, "What else do they actually pay attention to?"
Not so much 'money and rank' as 'money and influence,' which you might say is the same thing but I think they're a bit different. Just about all my Chinese colleagues talk about money ALL the time; not having enough of it mostly. And that's where it stops, they never do anything to improve on their situations. I don't know if working two jobs is illegal or if it's just not common here, but nobody thinks to do it -- even the people who work part-time.
The appeal of money seems to be that it grants one influence, which, admittedly, rank is often dependent upon. The ability to bribe officials, for instance. Money is desired and the rank/influence that can be forced out of it, but so many people, quite honestly, seem not to possess the drive to work hard for it. I may be very wrong on this, it's just what I interpret.
