i have seen some educated people cheat foreigner, because we don't know chinese language but they do, so if someone is helping you do not think he is helping you for free, he is getting his help charges from you , i have seen to buy a train ticket from the station a chinese friend asked me 20rmb more for each one ticket saying as charge asked by the ticket master. i thought it is like black mailing

One thing I've learned is don't trust everything you hear people saying. I went and used my card at a silk market type place they charged me twice. Told me that I would get some kind of refund never did. Also, don't trust people selling tickets near the ticket stub counter or an iphone for that matter. Someone I kind of know got their Iphone 3 stolen as they were talking on it.
Everyone gets cheated in China....it's a favorite pastime here. Something that gets accolades instead of condemnation.
Foreigners get the worst of it because they usually don't know any better, and make easier marks.
That's why I always have my gf with me whenever I need to buy something, or go somewhere.
Almost:
We veteran expats expect to get cheated in China. But how you deal with it makes a difference. If you let it go they will just keep on racking up victims. If you expose them at least others can be warned right? Keep this list handy for the next time you get burned:

Assume everything is fake and the asking price is 3 times the fair price
Don't think of it as being cheated... think of it as pricey lessons to help encourage you to learn more of the local culture.
simple learn to be independent, make good well trusted friends. learn to use the translation feature on your phone. use the internet to check the price of things. i'll give you an example when buying train tickets go online to chinatravel or othe websites and research the train you want to take (list 5 options or so) and the day you want to take them. use google translate to translate the city and day you would like to travel. if you have a smartphone you can transfer the info to your phone. (in chinese of course)
Day / date
Train
Seat type
Destination
go to the station and show it to them (learn to say you meiyou?) the only thing you must be sure to do is make sure you see the correct info on the computer screen and your tickets. most people will just put you on whatever train.
push comes to shove have a friend text you the dets in chinese
Many times because they think we are rich, not here working to earn a living, and trying to educate them and their kids........whatever price see I offer them a third, if they say no, I laugh in their face and walk befor you get to the door, they are call you back, they need the money bsd because competition for them is strong......if that dosnt work I take my girlfriend next time, always a winner, you got it right dude
The only foreigners who are cheated in China are those who breathe.
