I don't like spicy food as to me, not matter what is in the food, all i can taste is 'hot', which starts me sneezing and coughing. cool

I prefer food from northern China where i can taste different flavours - there is already another thread on this topic: Hui food is (to quote my local friends) "very delicious"

Sichuan?

I'm not sure, when it hurts more: in 'entrance' (to my mouth) or in 'exit' (out of….)?, so I stay away.

No. It really isn't that spicy, and there is no variation in the type of spice used. It is as oily as hell though, so it always gives you digestive regrets.

Troll alert..............Most Chinese food is spicy but not spicy hot. China is not the only country that eats spicy food.

Just loading more chillies into your food does not make it spicy, it just makes it hot. There are many spices available, with a whole range of tastes, in Asia but Chinese have very low culinary skills and think more chilies means spicy.

I personally find Hunan food way more challenging than Sichuan. I really REALLY like Sichuan peppers.

Sichuan hotpot can be really damn spicy, and some of the noodle types too. In general, food in southern area is much spicier than the northern area.

There are 8 major cuisine series in China (鲁菜、川菜、粤菜、闽菜、苏菜、浙菜、湘菜、徽菜), among which Chuan cuisine (means Sichuan food) and Xiang cuisine (means Human food) are famous of their spicy flavor. Yet the two big cuisine are spicy in a different way. Chuan cuisine is more numb because of the humidity weather there so people eat numb and spicy food to get the heavy moisture off the body. Hunan spicy food is savory.

As a native chinese people, he spicies food I ate is neither Chuan or Xiang food, but Gan food (from Jiangxi Province)! You simply felt like crying your heart out with that damn spicy food..

The difference between Sichuan and for instance Hunan food is usage of Sichuan pepper which cases your mouth numb. At first a little strange feeling, but to certain extent 'addictive' Smile. I like this taste.

Majority of Sichuan dishes are ranging from moderately spicy to very spicy. However it's still possible to find almost non spicy ones.
