My favourites so far are the enormous green 'christmas' unicorn put up in Dongzhimen last year, the fancily packaged apples i get from Chinese friends 'because it's tradition' and people going shopping on christmas day because there are huge discounts.
its just a day of shopping or making money to them. Mainlanders do not understand the true spirit of Christmas. To understand one must have empathy and a spirit giving and unselfishness....most are not capable.
In Tianjin it is a tradition to go to the old cathedral with an apple and just stand outside in a great horde for no particular reason on Christmas eve night. Thus blocking anyone who wished to actually attend mass. I find it funny and weird but hey that is what Christmas is about apples, right?
Remind me why are people buying and offering overpriced regular apples for Christmas?
Better buy one at the local fruit shop for 5 mao than those Christmas apples sold in the street (that probably come from that shop anyway) for 3 kuai each.
