I was reading the front page today and got to thinking
every thing Im taking to China is bloody made there so all Im doing is repatriating them
Trying to find something that represents your country and culture that is made in house is nearly impossible
Do you guys have this problem?
Beer always works well for me. Good 'ol Canadian beer. I smuggle a few in my luggage every time.
Screw Aussie or Canadian beer Sam Adams is the best beer in the world. or go with hard liquer Tequila Rose or Baileys for the ladies Tennessee Whiskey Jack Daniels for the guys.

Australian red wine is very popular where I visit. Penfolds reds in particular. I don't think those I bring it for have any idea about good wine but the have heard of it's name and as such offering it up at a business dinner apparently is a good face thing.
I get what you are saying about gifts Phil. We buy lots of T-shirts (Nike, Addidas, Esprit )etc as gifts from Australia but they are almost always made in China anyway.
Derek I wish I could bring a few cases of beer so I could offer a drink for my Chinese friends to try.
How about chocolate. I haven't found any good Chinese chocolate.
a t-shirt or hat from a local sports team or your university. i brought a tshirt from my uni's book store, its not something you can find in china.
crimochina:

Take a harley davidson motorcycle. You won't be able to find those here.
