I love China, culture, research, sociology, all that jazz, but don't want to teach English. I want to maybe work here or have a job that brings me here a lot. Any suggestions?

Well speaking as a member of the echina forum who has just been made a 'Minor Official'.........thank you, yes, thank you, it's nothing, i'm just here for 'you' guys, really, yes, thank you....i've found there 'are' other possibilities for someone who wants a job that offers some freedom to move around but would like to avoid going the usual 'teaching route'. My wife and I are both teachers but also moonlight in our free time; I am a male prostitute on the weekends and she uses that time to circulate the local bars where she sells boxes of matches, and yes, it does feel a little strange, her making more money than me, but we both get to do something rewarding.......and ultimately, something we love; getting felt up by drunks and sleeping with skanky old women. Yes.....there 'are' choices.

You know, I really wanted to do the whole prostitution thing but then my syphylitic lobster started acting up again. Lobster you may ask? Well that's what you get for sleeping with uptown guys, no crabs for this high roller.

Your STD is impressive, Mr Bond.
Me, i've had crabs so bad I woke up to find my underpants walking sideways across the floor. KABOOM CHA!
Maybe you can do some trading business. You know most of productions are made in China.
Wish everything goes well with you.
You could be an English teacher,
.....and 'All That Jazz'. That was B. Fosse, if I remember correct.
