Q: Guangzhou vs Shenzhen?

Has anyone been to both? For a visit, which one do you prefer?

Guangzhou. Has some old stuff to look at. Shenzhen is just a generic big city. The main good thing about Shenzhen is that it is easy to get to Hong Kong...

The two are just a quick dash on CRH from each other, if you spend a week in one, going to the other for a day is not a big problem.

The eternal question.

Guangzhou is more traditional, Shenzhen is more modern.

In Guangzhou the main language is Cantonese, in Shenzhen it's Mandarin.

Guangzhou is the center of Cantonese culture, Shenzhen is a melting pot of people from all over China.

Guangzhou has thousands of years of history, Shenzhen is a boom city with its history starting in 1979.

Now for Guangzhou if you like real China you will find it in the districts of Liwan and Yuexiu, the city's economy revolve around services, it has a unique taste as it's where the Cantonese culture was born.

Shenzhen has ultra-modern infrastructures and buildings, some of the craziest /most ambitious construction projects in the world are in Shenzhen, the economy revolve around high-tech and manufacturing, streets are cleaner, HK is just across the border.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
