My friend is currently talking to an HR rep from this company but something is off and I mean way off. First he asked for 50usd to do a background check (1500rmb if my friend was inside China luckily he was not) and he got a report back from the China bureau headquarters (huh?) I looked online and found no such department. Then he wanted my friends bank account info to deposit money when my friend hadn’t worked for his company for one day. He wanted to deposit 600,000rmb (huh). Anybody else with a similar experience?

Any closure on this situation? Currently in the same boat.
I arried Beijing few weeks ago, started looking for a job, and the same thing happen to me.
He asked for an interview and then said something is wrong with the net, and he cant see nor hear me, even that it was really clear. so he asked for the interview to be in text. We had the interview and then send me a contract to sign, but after that he said I need to contact Xiamen bureau service to get some papers like criminal record and stuff I search and there was no place like this, I emailed them at night, and they replied emedialty witch is more concerning. Than they asked me for the money 1500 rmb.
I am not mad for loosing a job offer, but sad that people go and do things like this to earn money this way while others are working so hard.
I wanted to share my experience so be carful everyone, dont fall for this.
If anyone want more info just contact me and i ll do my best to help.

why would you go to China io the wrong visa?
(if you are looking for a job after you arrive in China you won't get anything legal.)
sounds like you did not do ANY research on getting a job in China.
if you are not a foreigner (and a local Chinese person) and are looking for a job (it is not clear from your post who or what you are) i would like to know why you would fall for a vey obvious scam, and not know that Chinese scamming Chinese (and anyone) is not uncommon.
to be honest, i would like to see you reply at all as there are a lot of new fake aliases that have obviously been created to spam on this site.
This is definitely a scam. It has happened to me just yesterday. Exact same thing, couldn't connect to Skype and suddenly disappeared. No email response and nothing else. I'm really tired of scams

This Hanwha scam is still operating. It is sophistocated. They are using the website of the Fortune 500 company to make it look like you will be working for the company.
I received a contract with my name on it after the "interview". Same circumstances - technical difficulties and with the man on skype who said there was no connection.
I needed to do the interview based on a question sheet and answer each question with a video recording. Which I did.
Within a day received several confirmation emails welcoming me to the company including a schedule for training. In order to start the training I needed to register "Identity History Summary Check and Employee Certificate of Registration" with Korean government agency. Which is also a sophistocated website. Everything looks legit until they ask for money. Number one rule is no job offer should be asking you for money.
Looking at it again I see where it was off:
1. I never applied to this company but they approached me;
2. Wage is really high - $50 US an hour;
3. Interview had no connection. When I saw "Fredrik Hadman, HR Manager", the camera had it so that I was looking up at him sitting in a chair sideways. Obviously hiding the skype call with me from his employer;
4. Quick successive emails full of spelling mistakes and poor grammar often repeating the same thing over and over.
I am going to report this to the company Hanwha as well as Dave's ESL, which is likely where they got my contact information.
I am sure there are more people involved in being scammed. The registry website has positive reviews of people who have used it.
The websites are what fool you into thinking it is all legitimate.
