Q: Has anyone bought a kindle here?

I'm thinking about buying a kindle, but I've heard some Chinese admitting they were naturally suspicious of any electronic products made in China. (Evidently, even the locals don't put much stock in their homemade products).

I don't go home for months, so I'm debating whether or not I should wait. Has anyone bought them here? Do you recommend it?

Apparently those Chinese people aren't aware that iPads are made in China. Buddy of mine bought what he thought was a Kindle but it was quite possibly the most laughable ripoff I've ever seen. He bought it at a somewhat respectable shop that even had it advertised as a Kindle. Always buy high end electronics at home. That's my advice.

I have. You can get one on Taobao. They don't sell them on Amazon China or any other retail stores in China. China wants you to buy their crappy ebook  readers. If you know how to use taobao, that would be good. If you don't, you should learn. Pretty easy and useful. You'd be lucky if you buy onenow by the way , I bought mine in May for 1000 rmb. The Kindle touch and keyboard now go for about 600. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13558016975 ... If you're in a major city, it can be delivered to you the very day you buy it. If you're not satisfied you can return it.  I got mine in one day.

btw, they rarely sell ripoffs. You can use google to translate the page into English. The shops selling electronics with most user comments, alot of diamonds and crowns representing their trust rating are the ones you should go for just to be sure.
