Been living in Nanning for a few years now and on about four or five occasions i've taken my e-bike for some minor repair and they've done it for free. This has happened with about three different mechanics. My wife said that for minor repairs they'd feel embarrassed to charge me but the last time this happened it took up about twenty-five minutes of the guy's time and he'd been kipping when I turned up. This ever happen to you or is it a characteristic of Guangxi workmen? Back home a mechanic wouldn't change a spark-plug without charging 50 quid.
I had little things like my front brake fixed for free, there was a bind that I didn't see, fast fix but I missed it. My ebike often feel asleep from the sidestand, always broke the brake handle housing, I went to a close shop, quoted 4000 for new housing for brake grip with switches and would take days, wtf ? I went back where I bought the bike, no parts but within minutes a guy shows up on a scooter with the part, they fixed it fast, cost me 120Y, cheap. That part at home would be 500 alone.
My exGF has scooter now, they fix her scooter at night by removing batteries for free. I thought the batteries would be hard to take out, being under the seat and with the nice alarm.
I've had my rear wheel bearings fixed for virtually free. Took the fella about 45 minutes to do the job and he wouldn't take more than 15 kuai.
On another occasion he repaired my puncture for 6 kuai.

I had some fu**er repair a puncture and charge me 60 once. I'd not checked the price beforehand so I just paid and left. He saw me coming. But usually it's piss all or nothing at all. 5 kuai for fifteen minutes work. I wouldn't mop the piss off my dick with 5 kuai.
Had my hair cut for free. They refused to accept payment, so I threw the money at them and ran out the door as fast as I could. A worker deserves to be paid!
I brought my motorcycle to a local guy that my American buddy referred me to. I just wanted an oil change but then we noticed the bike was idling pretty high (around 4500 per minute, when it should be around 1500). He ended up fixing it and it took about an hour and a half to two hours.... when I asked how much, he said 25 RMB... I gave him 30.
Now that is one good thing about mechanics and computer repair people. They don't charge much compared to how much it would be back home. That probably would have cost me $150.00 for an oil change and fixing the idle at some crappy Canadian Tire.
