ever tried the Walk out; Walk in maneuver ? What I mean is being a 10 year L multiple-entry visa holder (US citizen) to try to just walk out the Louhu border station into HK, then just turn around and walk back into PRC? I don't really want to spend any time or money in HK if I don't have to. But wondering how PRC immi reacts to this maneuver ?

Used to do it about 6 years ago on business visa BUT it’s not walk in/walk out. Hong Kong side is directly into metro station. You need to ride one stop then change sides & ride back again.

and PRC immi didn't object? I'm just worried they will deny me entry,,,, u know,,, like bug me about travel plans and such.

Entry/exit stamp doesn't feature time and I come and go same day all the time, like when I don't want to wait for Star Wars.

I'm stoked to hear that. I'll be giving it a try in the next couple of weeks. I'll report back here with details.
Don't use the LuWu exit if you just want the fun of trying out your visa, use the Lok Ma Chow exit. Left of the LuWu exit on the map. Both are connected by Shenzhen subway.
Lok Ma is more modern and the exit/entry are on two floors connected by escalators, for the public. There are two HK supermarkets on one of these floors (both are Welcome Shops) that very few know about where you can buy reliable food (dry food only though), detergent.....important, commonly used medicine. No fakes.
LuWu, you need to take at least one subway stop to Sheng Shui, a 'small' town in itself, fully equipped with banks, post office, restaurants...etc. The transport cost round trip is about rmb 33 which is nothing if you have committed the time. Treat yourself with a short tour, walk around. See the differences. I would if I have the opportunity. Hagan Daz!!! lol

Good advice. I'll give it a try. Anything has to be better than that Luo hu place!

Yup, in Sheng Shui, you will see daluren hovering around the pharmacy and cosmetic shops with their trolley suitcases, packing stuffs on the streets. These are parallel cross border traders, buying milk powder, cosmetics, medicine.....etc. from HK and selling them in mainland.
You can also take 5 more stations, only about 20 min., to Chinese University to meet the elites of Hong Kong. Go and visit their Democratic Wall. CU's courses and education curriculum are modeled after USA's education system.
Meet the real Chinese, haha. The food in their canteen is acceptable but hardly the best of all the uni in HK, so you focus on something else instead. No worry, not a soul there will drop in front of you asking for english practice. Hoho.......dress decent (ie neat and tidy) it can be your lucky day....ahem.....the lecturers, bright cookies (students).....civilised, with manners, cultured.......heaven and hell differences.........that much I can guarantee.
CU is situated along the seashore.......there is also a huge technology center closeby, government operated for entrepreneurs....that one is really something, even the restaurants. No rip-offs.
haha......better tell you the last re-entry hour with LuWu, Cinderella. I can't remember the exact time but it is around 11:30pm, definitely not after midnight.
Shown you the door, the rest is up to you....lol
You will have to enter the metro station and then exit on the floor below, you will be charged as though you took a train ride.
Yes.
I did it last year.
But, I had to ask nicely and explain that I was supposed to be meeting people urgently. I was allowed to go through that special door in the middle, and take the stairs down to the inbound queue.
No problems (but HK are nicer than dalu).

Very cool! I don’t mind an hour or two goofing around in the metro or whatever,,, I’m just trying to avoid having to stay the night. And I sure don’t want that long train ride into TST...
