Q: Is this holiday the gambling holiday?

Everywhere I have gone (Locally- Guangdong)), it seems that everyone is gambling. I go down little lanes, I see gambling. What is more important, I see money on the table.

I walk along the main shopping street. I see gambling. Money on the table.

Is this new moon thing an excuse to gamble?

Glad to see you back, ScotsAlan.
This gambling can be taken as a recreational activity. More so during holidays to socialise with friends and keep family together on mahjong and card tables.

ScotsAlan:

I see lots of gambling here. But it always seems to be hidden in the city. Last weekend I noticed it was everywhere, cash on the table. In the open. I suspect this is one of the laws the Government ignore at holiday time. I have seen police raid gambling areas before. Good fun to watch :-)

Hi, sir. This is common. Not that much with the holiday. Surely the holiday offers them spare time, so they can entertain themselves. Gambling is common. With money, gambling is more fun and adventurous. Some family members sitting around to gamble not for money, for fun. Gambling is called card game. It is a mind game.

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
