Q: How can I get a replacement birth certificate in Hunan China.

Hello all,

 

Does anyone know how I can a replacement birth certificate in Hunan China. I have my siblings and parent's copies of their english translated birth certificate in Changsha, mine is in the middle of the sequence.

 

My question is how do I go about getting a replacement birth certificate.

From what country is your birth certificate from? Different countries would have different rules.

In the US, you never get the original. you get an "original copy" or a "certified copy" so it is just a matter of asking for a new one. However, as I said, different countries have different rules....

Here's what I did: if your nationality is Chinese, you must go to the PSB in the hometown where you were born, bring your hukou and ID card, and then get the info translated.

 

If you are an American citizen, your passport will suffiice. It counts as at least 2 forms of ID (I think). Check the state.gov and USCIS websites.
