Q: How can I identify if I'm about to eat dog or cat meat?

Smell? Color? Texture? Should I put my ear to the kitchen door and listen for a meow?

If you're not sure of the meat, point at it and go "woof woof" the facial expression of the person that gave it to you will let you know. Wink Repeat with a "meow" if desired.

most waiters dont know what the meat is or maybe my chinese friends were hiding something from me .................?

At the very least learn the characters. The word for dog sounds like "Go"

Im not worried about accidently ordering it. I can read a Chinese menu well well enough. I'm worried someone is going to try to slip it to me to save on prices because they think I dont know the difference.

which I dont :(

They advertise dog meat in very big characters. They make absolutely no secret about it. Look for 狗肉. In parts where it's popular you'll see signs for it everywhere. My understanding is that cat is mostly a Cantonese thing.

Dont think anyone will slip it too you to save money as it is dearer than pork or lamb I think and is looked on as a bit of a delicacy. I have given clear instructions to everyone who might help order food to not try to trick me into eating it. I am fairly adventurous but just cant bring myself to eat it. I even learned how to say I dont eat dog.
Dont no how to spell it in pinyin but it is pronounced like this. Wu boo chure go yo. One of the first and most important things I learned.

It'll taste like chicken. People have eaten dogs and cats for thousands of years. Accidentally eating a little every now and then won't hurt you.

I am very sorry that this crimes has being still happening here
I saw some days ago some people slandering a Dog in the street, I felt horrible that day, the whole day, impressed and feeling sad because I couldn't do anything.
Eel, Snail, snake, frogs, dogs cats and God know what else they eat, It's so many options and I still hate the food here! Non tastive and very spice!

DaBen:

I once saw someone skinning a dog on the side of a bridge (it was fresh roadkill). It reminded me that I hadn't tried do yet, so I made sure to grab a couple of buddies and go out for spicy dog pot that weekend. :)

A:1. Apply at FindJobz, top L corner of this screen! 2. Have a look over the Internet with "Requirements for an English teaching job in China" in search for more details. You could also look at the guidance titled "How to use an Internet, search engines in particular ..." for more in-dept knowledge. 3. As you can see from no. 2,, main requirement for an ET job in China is holding of a native English passport (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and S. Africa), no different than anywhere else in the world. 4. Non-English native passport holders qualify for an ET job in China only if they hold BA degree completed in the native English country. However, most recruiters and hiring managers in China aren't aware of that exemption, so if you hold a degree from one or two native English countries, I suggest you include that into Introduction letter. Good lucky! P.S.Application for the NASA's Moon-to-Mars Program at the Cape Canaveral is less stringent than applying for an ET job as a non-native Englisher ...That of course, is an opinion of a non-English native teacher with lengthy English teaching experience in several different countries.  -- icnif77
