Q: How can my friend apply for a licence to hire a foreigner?

My friend a chinese runs a kindergarten and wants to employ a foreign teacher so that she can do the visa stuff .Is it easy or complicated?

It is complicated to do.  Basically, the school needs to apply for a special license to hire foreign teachers.  One of the requirements is that the school be running for at least 1 year.  I think the normal time to get the license is about 6 months after you first apply for it.

However, most schools will partner with another school that already has the license and 'borrow' teachers from them to teach their classes until they get their own license.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
