Q: How do I tell my Chinese girlfriend to stop dressing like a prostitute?
I've been dating a girl whose choice of clothing sometimes leaves very little to the imagination. I'm actually almost embarrassed to take her to places because even her day wear are ahem, just a little on the cheap and skimpy side. There's no way I would even consider introducing her to parents or relatives in the outfits she wears. Seriously, though, how should I tell her this without risking castration?

Just DON'T tell her she dresses like a hooker!!!!!!! And NEVER tell her that you are embarrassed to present her to anyone.
Instead, suggest "why not this outfit? Makes you look even better/ professional/ beautiful/etc. And, like Brisguy said, if you buy her some outfits, not only are you getting in her good graces, but you also get to have some input as well (And a FREE FASHION SHOW!).

Point out outfits that you think are nice on other women. Say I like that dress. would you wear something like that for me. I would like to see that dress on you... but most women dress sexy, whats the big deal. If all else fails post her phone number if shes too sexy for you.

If you pardon my honesty, I do think your GF is just doing what many other Ladies in China do, just look around you or the serial photos eChinaCities post every day. And actually the problem could be in you, and that you are judging her from your point of view and not hers. In my opinion, she is just following the existing summer fashion trend, and you are thinking she dresses to look like a hooker.
My own GF has a great body, and even better legs and derrier. At our first outings, the same thing happened to me, I got upset with her short skirts. One day at my home, I brought up the subject. She smiled, and lifted her short short miniskirt. Under it she had pantyhose, under it a short, and under the shorts her panties. Then she asked me one question and afterwards made a statement.
The question was "can you see anything thru the pantyhose, the shorts and the panty?" My reply was NO.
The statement was "Chinese men do not look", and after one year with her I will not say 100 % do not look, but maybe 90 % I will agree.
And in all honestly, while here she looks "chick" and beautiful in her summer dressing outfits, I would not dare take her back home unless she gets a new wardrobe, and trust me, she does not "show" anything, and does not want to do so either.
My gf dresses the same way in the summer and I don't mind at all.
What pisses me off is she dresses sexy to go for a business dinner with me but will wear something non sexy to go to the bar many times. I will never figure her out.
The only thing I have ever complained about was the black lace see through capri's she likes to wear...with see through lace panties underneath...but with an oversized t-shirt that is almost like a short dress covering her up....I ask her....what happens when you bend over over or sit down???

The answer to your business dinner vs. bar statement is simple: face. She wants to show off to the people who are important, but bar people? Why would she need to impress them or give you face for them?

mine doesn't, her dresses are a couple of inches above her knee, she does wear shorts, but I like a nice dress. I won't tell her what to wear, only that she looks nice. What I find funny is clothes that look almost formal evening wear.

We don't make them wear clothing ,,,,, I personaly don't think women dress too sexy at all. Its only clothing. I like that a woman tries to look good.

nevermind gave you a standard joking reply, this is how we joke. It's fashionable to wear miniskirts in China, almost all young women do, not just foreigner girl friends. i don't think its too sexy. The women are showing their best features. They don't show cleavage because they don't have any.Shorts have been around for longer than I have. Mini skirts were a fashion in the 60s in our country, then they weren't, now theyare again.All that shows is legs. It's no big deal. It's all in your mind that they look like prostitutes. You can also bring her on a shopping trips, girls love guys who appreciate going shopping together and especially guys pay for the clothing. I know that requires plenty of patience due they can stand there just look at the same dress for at least 30 minutes, hahaha.... But if you can bear with it. Then is okay.

Two points here: first of all, was she dressed very conservatively when you met her and suddenly she's started dressing like a whore since you became a couple? I doubt that! So surely the way she presents herself to the world, (her 'look', if you like), is part of what attracted you to her, correct?
