Q: How do you deal with the whole breaking up with the GF and wanting to go back to your home country?
-I think it says it all. It lasted a year, and I made major changes in my life because of her. Now, I'm stuck in a job I don't really like for the next 5 months, in a city that isn't so good. I feel like quitting and going back to the states to make burgers or pump gas (I worked since I was 14 illegally, so I actually don't care what I do).

Try to do it with as much respect as possible, say that you don't feel you can genuinely commit to a life in China, or a life with her and that you want to let her find somebody who can, so she can be happy. It'll be a comforting lie, but there are rare occasions where a comforting lie is best.
I should point out, this is not the first "how do I dump my GF" question here, and based on previous responses to those questions, check she's not holding anything flammable, or sharp and pointy, at the crucial moment when you tell her it's over.

if she's from hunan , my advice is to break up with her when you are safely in your home country.

It was easy to break up with her, cause she threw me out of my house...the next day my boss and a mutual friend of the ex-girlfriend, moved out her stuff. She's back in her dorm.
-My boss actually said "You want me to change locks" and "you get younger better girlfriend now!"

i actually feel for him, remember he is a foreigner in china. and if he put up any resistance at the time she could easily lie on him and have him arrested. he handled it the right way, go back with mutual friends.

Just remember your a foreigner...its already expected that you will leave her...
Problem is if you decide to go back to the US and flip burgers you wont be slamming any hot girls with that kind of job..

Ahem... My advice to the original poster would be to find a place for yourself somewhere in China so when you do leave you don't leave for some woman.
Speaking in all honesty, my initial reason for coming here was to marry my fiance, a Chinese classmate from the USA. We were together for 4 years, when I came here, I lived in south China, worked, even bought a small apartment. On the eve of my marriage she walked out because her family hated me for being a foreigner.. and I had to learn she instead accepted a man from her hometown that her mom and dad introduced to her.. whom she had cheated on me with even before I asked her to marry me. That was a brutal mess.
I also considering going back home, but instead I decided to stay here and find some place that I could call home. Some place suited for me where I could be happy. I have found that in Shanghai.
You should look for some place, otherwise your suffering is all for someone who is now gone. Best of luck!
