I am serious, please someone tell me how do i do that.
Guessing Catholic?
You need to do the sacraments of initiation of the Catholic Church in this order:
1. Baptism
2. Confirmation
3. Eucharist
Bonita,
I would cheerfully welcome you as a sister and since you were asking a general question I will make a kind of general statement at first:
- You join Christianity the very moment you accept Jesus Christ in your heart. At that moment you are part of the body of believers,
however,
more specifically (and of course) yes, you want to find a healthy well-balanced church with (we hope) well guided leaders and teachers and pastors.
I know some churches in Beijing or even Heiliongjia but I don't know Shanghai,
however,
I can tell you a well respected church in Shanghai is Grace Church.
An online search gives a description and even a phone number. Do not hesitate to give them a call and simply explain you are interested and wish to talk to a Pastor. They will (I surely hope) be delighted to invited you over:
*Shanghai Grace is a Christian church holding masses in both English and Chinese. This red brick church and bell tower is part of a structure originally built by missionaries in 1910 and has since become the home of Christianism in Shanghai.
Location: 375, Shanxi Rd N., close to Beijing Rd W. Jing'an District
Transportation: 10 minutes' walk from West Nanjing Rd Station of Metro Line2.
Tel: 021-62539394, 62585598.
It's true there are different denominations. 'Catholic' might have some unique practices, styles and some differences than (for example) Methodists. But, in my humble opinion, you would not go wrong at Grace.
It's my understanding (and someone might correct me) but at some point I believe you have to choose and register at one church. This is no problem though. They may have some religious events for newcomers:
- Some may have a 'baptism' (basically they put you in some water hehe),
or,
as Bris mentioned, a Catholic church might have some steps where they just pour water on your head, have a kind of study course, a 'pledge' kinds of things.
Let me know if this helped at all and feel free to PM me or just let us know how it worked out for you.

Thank you so much! It is very useful! Right now I'm back home with my family for summer holiday, I will be back in shanghai by the end of July, I will keep you updated with what is happening!
I'm catholic! Join a church attend regularly pray and be apart of it. They will welcome you!
You may wish to make inquires at St. Ignatius Cathedral. It is world famous and is been gracefully restored over the years after several regrettable incidents. Sunday high mass with the archbishop in attendance is really beautiful. They do have youth groups and the like and mass is also served during the week.
It is not something that you can Join..it is something that you have to Adopt..
Hello!
Well, it would depend which branch of Christianity you wish to join, that is, if you want to be a full member of an organized Christian Church.
If you wish to be an "independent Christian", affiliated to no particular faith or Church, then like Pogger said above, just Believing in Jesus as the Son of God and your Savior, and doing your best to live an honorable life as He did, that would be enough. God reads your heart, not the paper that says you belong to XYZ Church.
Do know however, that while most Churches will welcome independent Christians to worship at their churches, some, like the Catholic Church require that you be baptized and have received your First Communion before being able to receive Communion.
On the other hand, if you want to join as a full fledged member of a particular Church, just talk to the priest of the office of the Church you wish to me a member of and they will be more than happy to help you join them in full.
I myself began as a Catholic, then became an Atheist, then, an Independent Christian, and then I was Protestant for nearly 15 years before reconciling with the Catholic Church once more in 2009. I can tell you that all, Independent, Protestant and Catholic have given me great fulfillment and thus I would not want to recommend any particular one as there is no reason for not following any one of those three particular paths. Just listen to your heart when you decide which path you wish to follow (and there is no need to rush!).
I would like to join the others above who have welcomed you as a Christian and I wish you all my best!
As to pogger, welcome back! It has been a long time!
to be a Christian you must accept Jesus as your savior, the bible says all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved, So pray to God and ask to be forgiven of your sins and for Jesus to come into our heart, You are now saved,Jesus died for your sins, the bible says if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive them, To be a Christian means to follow Jesus , So now pray , read the bible and go to Church, the bible in Hebrews 10:25 says do not forsake the assembly[ meeting with other believers] It also talks about it in Acts 2:42, Again to be a Christian is to follow Jesus, He taught and went to the synagogue, [ Jewish church of that day] But God now includes all men, Jews and Gentiles [Non Jews] Pray that the Lord will guide you to the proper Church, Attend Church and you will know in you heart if that is the right one for you, Do not listen to what Men say to you if it does not say the same thing in the bible, The Bible says it is better to obey God rather than men, Jesus says FOLLOW ME, John 14:21 , He who obeys my commands is the one that loves

my comment is exactly what the Bible says,If you don't like it that is between you and God
For those of you that can access youtube, there is a really beautiful video on youtube about Easter Mass at St. Ignatius. The video dates from about 2007 but nonetheless it is quite stunning.
