By the time I leave China I'll probably have something like 3 to 4 suitcases. How much do airlines usually charge extra per?

If you fly domestically (inside mainland China), the airlines will allow one suitcase with a weigh up to 20 Kgs free of charge, besides the carry on.
If you fly International routes, the normal allowance is two suitcases per person, of less than 50 pounds each, plus a carry on.
The actual charge per extra luggage or excess weigh varies from one airline to the next, sinc it is up to each one to set whatever they want. Inside China I have paid 200 to 300 Rmb for an extra suitcase, on International flights I have paid up to $ 125 US dollars per extra suitcase.
Now, if when you return home, your flight involves a domestic leg and also an international one, make sure that your PNR (flight ticket) is only one covering both legs on the same ticket, this way the baggage allowance for international flights will apply also for the domestic leg of your trip. But if you have one ticket for the domestic portion, and one for the international one, then each one will have different rules for luggage allowances.
What about the weight of the extra suitcase? Do they charge for each kg?
