Q: How quickly things change in China ?

Well we are here back in the top end of the middle kingdom.
As soon as we landed in Harbin the musty smell in the Airport greeted us like an old friend lol.
It is a totally different from our senses are used to in Australia.
The temperature of course is a little cooler and moist.
But feels warmer than winter at home the smell of the restaurants and the food has more tast than the bland one from the vegetables grown in Australia.
Then there is the changes in the infferstructure in the past 18 months. New rail corridors and roads.
Coming from a country where we talk about longer than it takes to do the job I find it amazing what can be accomplished in a short space of time.
Remembering that it snows here 2/3 of the year.
The long term changes over the last 12 years I've been coming here are to numerous to mention even on a local level.
Certainly interesting times in China.
Oh and be warned as per every other year im in China be prepared for numerous post of stories rants and misadventures.
And now its time to start drinking again.

The really good news is Harbin now brews 10% AND 12% beer. So you can get hammered without a huge carb intake. Win/win!

Especially when your missus says "Now Phil, we talked about this....only 2 bottles with breakfast."

Huh...i keep telling her beer is a food group....but she doesn't believe me

Welcome back. The structural accomplishments are many, the cultural changes are few. The ethics are the same. 5,000 years of 'civilization'.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
