I know this is kind of a gross question. But really, if I live in a modern city with good water pressure in my apartment then can I quit with the yucky little toilet paper trash can?
I've met some Chinese people who seem to think so. Would it be a super costly mistake if I was wrong?
As long as you don't over do it with the TP then it will not block up your system. More of the problem is the sewage treatment facility is so far behind (or completely lack there of) that it can't handle the paper that would be flushed if all the Chinese did it. I've stayed in the really cheap places and flush mine all the time, but I do own a plunger just in case.
I was unaware of the non-tp flushing rule upon my arrival but discovered, during my third week in-country, that my toilet pressure was low.
During my third week, my TA stopped by for a visit, visited my bathroom and called to me. Saint that she is, after flushing she'd suspected what I'd done and had bravely removed the old wadded tp from the inside of the commode, sans removing the unit from the flange---God only kknows how. I received a stern lecture concerning the proper disposal of used tp and have not had any problem since.
Why not continue to use the lidded waste baskets and dispose of the liners daily? Better safe than sorry.
flush it frequently and use real tp not the napkins i never had a problem in 2 years
I cant go with the bins either. i get a lecture all the time obout not flushing the TP but i just ignore it. Hasn't caused a problem so far.
I always flush the TP. I've had a few incidents where I was forced to plunge but I'd rather that than have dirty papers in the house or have to look at them with a horrid fascination when I'm on the job.
I just put the first paper in the toilet and the less dirty ones in the bin, its never gave me a problem....know many Chinese who do the same...
I must be in a lucky area, as we don't have to do that!! I thought that was a Korean thing?
Never had any problems during my days in China, which is almost my entail life... So I would say, it won't be a problem.
I haven't had any problems with my toilet paper. My problem is that the tank doesn't like to fill, so almost every time after I flush, I have to take off the lid and bop it so it starts filling. Personally, I wouldn't be able to stand the smell. My bathroom smells bad enough without the help.
just curious,,,who has western style toilets? I didn't know you weren't supposed to flush,,this explains some immigrants washroom habits that I've come across.
