Q: I arrive in Shanghai HongQiao airport at 23:55, anywhere in the airport I can sleep til morning?

I am flying domestically into HongQiao airport and it's the only flight availabe so I'll be looking to get a few hours sleep.

Is there a cafe, restaurant or anywhere really that I can get my head down for a while?

I'll be carrying my luggage so I should really go straight to a hotel but if there is somewhere I can lie low for a few hours for free then that would be great!

You are going to be in Shanghai for a few days? Definitely get a hotel, or take a taxi into the city where you'll be staying. Taxis in China are cheap. Hongqiao is about 13 km from downtown so a taxi from Hongqiao to downtown will only be about 50-100 RMB (7-12 euros, 8-16 USD etc.) (Shanghai people correct me if I'm wrong). In China it's different from European cities or Japan where you have to wait out until 5 am until public transportation reopens!

The airport is pretty empty at night.  There are some places in the halls you could lie down.  I know it doesnt sound great but I once waited there for about 4 hours.  I dont know how long you wait is.  The airport is not like Pudong, its in the city so you could pop out and find a maccy ds

Everybody thanks for the help!

A bunch of good eggs here offering advice and help.

I've got myself into a hotel, I was trying to be tight and save some cash but for an extra few hundred RMB my life could be so much easier.

Find a CITS bus, they dont rip you off, and are cheap. I havent been to SH but other cities late at night I can still find one of these buses.
