There was that chicken feet and I tasted a little bit, but couldn't finish it. Something about feet I just don't want to smell it or more so eat it. hahaha!

mozart2vienna:

indeed, chicken feeds are definitely not for beginners.

First time I ate them I had that impression that I would eat the hands of a little child. Next time I saw an image before my inner eye of how those chicken stand in their own shit for their entire lifetime.

But meanwhile, meanwhile, I got used to it and whenever I feel images of that sort coming up, I just turn my back and look in another direction ;o)

What doesn't kill you makes you just stranger.

meant "feet" not "feeds". sorry.

Oh man, sometimes I really wonder how my poor English students should ever learn something useful from me.

But then ... he man, I guess we all have to pay our bills somehow.

Do I ask how their parents possibly managed to earn that much money so they can afford to pay me that much, hm? NO!

So then. Those little brats should just keep their mouths pretty closed and better stick their nose into the damned textbooks I sold to them recently.

Actually frog is pretty good and is usually cleaner than fish. You should  have a more open mind; if you do your Chinese friends might be willing to help you with your grammar.

I "did got" a problem with your grammar when you use it to try and pretend you aren't Chinese or, worse, to pretend you are American. As you can see, stereotypes that Americans have poor grammar and that Chinese have amazing grammar are not true. You should learn to be more authentic and true to yourself. And try frog; it's delicious!

Frog is pretty good.  I use to eat frog legs all the time when I was a kid in the US.  Some of my best memories of my father was when we went out to catch frogs to eat.

I have been offered many, many things to eat here in China that have seemed strange to me.  And I always try everything that is put in front of me.

My philosophy is this:  If 1.6 billion people can eat it, then so can I.

And honestly, the food here is part of the adventure of being here.

I would try frog. It's certainly more tempting than eating a bunch of small snails or chicken feet.

Where is your sense of adventure? You are in China... try something different.

Frog is yummy. I love frog legs. And that is the least of the weird you'll find to munch on in China

Frog legs aren't weird, come on!

I have eaten: frog, snake, rat, scorpion, chicken feet, rooster testicles, brains, guts, etc.

The ONLY thing I will not eat is dog. And that is what I warn my friends. When they ask me, to try something, i ask if it is dog. If they say no, I will try it.

I mean, coming TO China is the easy part! Why not eat (some) of what the locals eat! then, you can brag about it when you go home!

I was in a party about two years ago, and ordered a martini. Well, instead of an olive, they had a grasshopper. They told me it was customary in some Asian country, I just for the life of me cannot remember which.

WARNING: Sexist and Retrograde Comment Follows:

HugaP and Jnus tied frog legs! Are you gonna let some girls beat ya???!!!

HugAPanda:

yeah! You gonna let gurlies kick your rump shaker when it comes to poundin down some frog? Frog is easy.

G!! Go to the Penis restaurant in Beijing.

Burp. Ohh I wonder if anyone who eats there is called a Sperm Burper?

i've never heard insist used that way. especially so often.

be a pucking man or woman and hold your ground. and dont come whining on this board. in america we take pride in holding our ground and refusing to bow to peer pressure. bowing to peer pressure is a sign of weakness. in chinese culture bowing to peer pressure gains face. so you've got it mixed up buddy.

any brit can tell me if if insist is used that way with british english?

tomcatflyer:

Your right Crim it definitely is not the way we use it. we would say insisted, being past tense, and we wouldn't use it so many times in such a short time. Makes you wonder why so many Chinese on here can't just be honest  and admit they're Chinese rather than pretend to be American, English or whatever. You can usually spot them a mile off, they just don't realise how poor their English is sometimes.

according to food many people are trying to eat much of the things which i guess many of them have not tried it before but seriously, i will mention one thing in it , there are different religions in china, so some people do not eat whatever is put on the table for eating. And Mr. wajidkhann, kindly brief your chinese friends whenever you are going on to eat with them especially, if you have certain boundaries, let them understand it first. i hope you can explain to them what are your limits in foods.

Wajidkhannn is not Chinese, he is Middle Eastern, you can tell by his anti-west outlook on foreigners. At first I thought he was from India, but Indians have better English and grammar, not trying to piss you off Waji, I'm trying to state, as a doctor, didn't you sign a hipocratic oath, this should tell you to ease up a little. Frogs legs are enjoyed all over the world, not only in China, to be honest, they taste a bit like chicken. And try the donkey meat, it's amazing

did you eat donkey meat .......dammm ...

Waji, really it's quite good. Look, before I came to China, I would have never thought about eating donkey, frog legs yes, donkey no, but I was eating street food from a vendor. It's fast cheap and I can eat it on the way to catch a taxi, finally one day my wife asked me if I knew what I was eating, I said no but it's delicious, pork maybe, she said donkey, I stopped eating it for about 2 weeks, but I eventually went back to it. Don't try anything to taboo, but some of the things you must try as a professional with your co workers or boss, sheep brains and intestines, it's expensive and no one eats a lot but everyone eats a little

:

i never tried iit because it is forbidden for us i mean for Muslims,  we can only eat halal food and i only buy my food stuff from halal market ,

Frog is perfectly normal here, if they introduce you to bugs or worms how would you feel? They are the kind of food that isn't normal for a Chinese diet but is something special so they wouldn't feel offended.

How would you feel if they refused to eat something you see as normal?

Have a sense of adventure, PLEASE don't be an expat that comes here to live like you're in your home country and not eat the local food or delicacies, even just to try!

sam239:

We eat snakes and alligators where I come from, but only as a delicacy. I've eaten some strange foods here but they really weren't that good, it was like they were eaten just to try to be strange rather than because they actually taste good.

Yeah, when you're confronted with grubs and brains that's the time to worry.  Although sea slug is my personal hate.  I will never understand why it's expensive because eating it is exactly like you'd imagine; rubbery.
