the z visa is for working at a speserfide work place.
unless you plan on working for her familys bussiness it won't help.

make sure her family owns a brewery as it will help on Bad China Days

Just got married and could get the Spouse Visa...actually it's just an extension of the tourist visa anyways........ the Z Visa is different and really the only one you should have if u plan to work.

philbravery:

I try to get the bussiness visa because I can claim alot on tax when I get home. as long as you get a invite from a legit bussiness in China you can a F visa but you sill can not work on this one

A work visa will allow you to legally work in China for one year periods (can be renewed if contginue to work at authorized places) provided within 30 days of entering China, and prior to start working (not me, the Law says that) you go to PSB and obtain a work permit and a residence permit.

Marriage has nothing to do with getting it or not getting it.

You must have a work visa and the related permits even if you do physical work for no payment,  ie. a family business.  The importance is not if you received a salary, or not, or how much.  The importance is the physical act called WORK.

If you marry a Chinese citizen, then you can obtain a residence permit through your marriage. Then you don't need to obtain a z visa. Your residence permit will allow you to work or study and live in China.

Be careful though, that you must marry on Chinese soil and not abroad.  You must get all of the proper documents done.

GuilinRaf:

Ha!

I know a LOT of expats who have applied for one and not gotten it (and no, I am not referring to just English teachers). The few examples that have, are wealthy or famous people who have invested a ton of money in China.

The Chinese Green Card is like the Loch Ness Monster. A myth.

You can get Chinese citizenship but you would have to denounce your citizenship to your home country.

It is the only option when it comes to marriage

Wow, from some of these posts I've read now and in the past, isn't there another way to stay in China, non educated teachers, foreigners with no money for businesses and they want to get married to stay. WTF, get a life

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
