I know they are small, and study a lot, and blah blah blah whatever, but seriously, if you have 1/6 of all the people on earth. Why would you not qualify every single year? Why don't you win a World Cup ever 6th time? Even North Korea makes it regularly.
I think because the team, coaches, managers etc are made up of people who either got their position through connections, or outright bought their position.
'Cause in soccer, they all play with one ball. They should give each player one ball, same as when we were kids.
Why do they all run after one ball all the time? I never figure that out ....
well.. did you hear a person died while watching the football match on TV in China?
Guess what will happen to their team when they face Brazil or Portugal or Argentina etc..
I admit they have 1/6 of the population but they don't want to sacrifice 11 new men for every game...

I am pretty sure people die while watching football on TV all around the world all the time. People die while doing pretty much every activity there is. Humans are living things, they die.
Simple. Chinese dont play football to win. They play to perfect their diving and crying skills.
Ever seen a guy on a scooter going 2 km/h in traffic get touched by a car going 1.5 km/h? Looks exactly like a match between ( insert any european country) and ( insert any other country).
Because Chinese kids don't play soccer much. In Europe and South America, soccer is the game played by most boys. So the pool of people with long exposure to football is small in China, despite the larger population.
Why soccer is not played much in China ? Well, it's not exactly a nation of sportsmen (and no they are not small, go in the North of China). Kids are overprotected, xiao paopao would break a leg playing soccer, this kind of attitude. They better review for the gaokao and get a boring office job. Sport ? Nah.
Beautifulsoup:
What? Almost every school age boy in China plays soccer. Have you seen a Chinese middle school?
DrMonkey:
Errr... I saw people playing basketball, not football. But I stand corrected, I hardly seen all the country extensively :)
royceH:
Those that are interested in sport play basketball, not soccer. But, like the good Dr, I haven't been everywhere.
Not much room for a soccer pitch.
Based on this logic, they should win World Championships of every sport.
Maybe we shouldn't kid when they claim Chinese bodies are different.....
Because Chinese Professional Football is just a face contest between estate tycoons.
The Chinese don't like competitive team sports.
They are not sportsmen/women. Have you ever seen them play a team sport? Everyone is doing the bare minimum to not lose face. If you try your hardest and fail - face lost.
its simply a game of numbers and logistics, the chinese have too many people to have enough land for everyone to play sports, many schools only the boys play sports and the girls never get to play, the urban schools do not all have a football field and may only have basketball.
china has the talent to win the world cup every year, but if the talent does not play and nobody sees the talent, the talent never happens.
in addition to never playing to see the good players, the rich and powerful get their sons on the team instead of the good talented poor player and they get no recognition.
everyone plays ping pong and it does not require a lot of land and space and as a result they rule the world in ping pong.
welcome to the harmonious heaven on earth,
the cream never rises to the top, the nail sticking out always gets the hammer.
it is a little embarrassing when a country smaller in population than Beijing kicks your ass on the football field though.
Beautifulsoup:
than, why did the Chinese women go to the finals for the world cup in 1999?
Probably they don't pay FIFA like Qatar...Btw one ball and 11 players.... .
Beautifulsoup:
it is one ball 22 players, but who is splitting hairs?
Just a bunch of scaredycats worried about nothing other than losing face.
I think most of them lack courage and stamina.
I mean, it's an absolute joke they can't compete at anything on the world stage. Ding Junhui and Shan Feng Feng notwithstanding.
