But it's like some people on the sidewalk are just completely unaware of their surroundings. They will just quickstop randomly in the middle of the sidewalk to check their phone, bump into you, walk in front of you. etc. It's like they go into zombie mode
But....you said you lived in China before. Why do you think you're the first person to make this observation and comment on it?

There's lots of people everywhere, all the time. If you grew up with that, you might be numb to it as well. Just bump back, make the "tsk" sound and move on.
The best method is to become a selfish zombie butt-hole yourself, otherwise you'll spend your life angry. Same with driving, if you don't become an impatient unaware myoptic dip-shit your blood will boil.
As an expat in various SE Asian and East Asian nations for well over a decade, I can say with high confidence that some males exhibit a [bigoted ? envious/jealous ?] form of "passive-aggressiveness" towards non-asian appearing males. React accordingly.
