Did anyone else met local "teachers" (unqualified T.A.) expecting you to teach the way they want (understand: the way that gives them the least amount of work) by giving you sh*tty advices?
My T.A. last year (who didn't speak German although that's what she was supposed to teach with me) was a lazy bug trying to do as little work as possible. She was claiming to be qualified and to have many years of experience, when I asked her where she graduated she was unable to give me a school's name (even in Chinese) and was also unable to understand the basics of language teaching. When I told her to stop being lazy her excuse was "you earn more than me, you should do some of my work", the tasks were distributed by the management.
How can such people be hired as T.A.? Guanxi?

Simply allow him/her to dazzle the students with their brilliance by conducting a lesson (or week of lessons) entirely on their own.
Tell the students ahead of time that you will be monitoring the T.A.'s ability and professionalism in order to dodge the "you put me on the spot" bullet.
Don't follow their advice and they will stop interfering.. I worked with a TA for a very short period of time and during the class I always made sure I was in charge. Students were not allowed by me to directly have a conversation with the TA in Chinese language. Just asking the translation of a few words is acceptable.
