Q: Mainland to HK...

shipping a small parcel, like the size of 2 shoeboxes, value <1000¥, not fragile, non-hazardous material, recipient:  licensed foreign worker in HK.

Anyone have any first-hand experience with this?  Any/all tips, advice appreciated.

Am I on the right track with SF Express?

You'll be good with SF. Other one is Yunda, I use it with delivery to HK in some 3 days.

Tips ... pack it well, 'content of the box can't shake, so wrap the content in some newspaper before you close the box, and Yunda or SF guy will write recipient&sender's address on his form and he'll glue it on the parcel after you'll pay some 200 RMB.

Cost of shipping is determined by size and weight of the parcel.

I shipped faulty HD (250g) from Bijie, Guizhou, to HK for 190 RMB or around. Just regular shipping, not express. I had Chinese teacher with me and he talked to Yunda guy, so price was right, he he.

Giuzhou is similar to Nepal, i.e. high elevation, so all shipping charges are upped, teacher told me. I spent tonne when I moved from Kaifeng to Bijie for the same reason.

I think, shipping is cheaper, if value of package is below 1000 Rmb.

Well, this is just from Zhejiang, so maybe they'll be reasonable,,, but it's a lot more than 250g,,, maybe 1.5kg. :(

I'll probably wait and carry it next time I go 'abroad' or is that 'go look for a broad'?

Call express guy and after he'll measure everything and tell you the shipping cost, you tell him you don't have that much money ...

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
